Each segment is attributed with the appropriate year that the map was surveyed, the map title that it was taken from, and the road names if available in the map; road names also allow for further research into the history of specific roads. The purpose is in the land assessment process by the Historical Commission and the expansion of possibility of field verification and further research into the actual location of the historic road network.
