The Battlefield Boundary feature class represents the polygon locations of the \u201cstudy areas\u201d identified in the draft Update to the <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>Report on the Nation<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>\u2019<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>s Civil War Battlefields, <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>for the principal battlefields of the Civil War. The update to the report was <\/SPAN><\/SPAN>authorized by the Civil War Battlefield Preservation Act of 2002 and last revised in 2014.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>The draft report defined \u201cstudy area\u201d as the maximum delineation of a battlefield, providing the tactical context of the battle and including all places related or contributing to the battle event. The Battlefield Boundary is where troops deployed and maneuvered before, during, and after the engagement.
